When we first set out to create Mika Creations from our home near the Yarra River, our dream was simple: to design functional, beautiful travel accessories that respect our earth rather than pollute it. Seeing our plastic-free Juco (jute and cotton blend) cubes recognised on such a prestigious stage alongside so many inspiring eco-conscious brands is deeply humbling.
Why Swap Synthetic Nylon for Natural Juco?
For decades, standard travel cubes have been made from petrochemical synthetics that shed microplastics and stick around in landfills forever. We wanted to offer a natural, breathable alternative.
Our packing cubes are crafted from Juco, a gorgeous, heavy-duty blend of 65% rain-fed jute and 35% natural cotton. Jute requires minimal water, pesticides, or fertilisers to grow, enriches the soil, and absorbs huge amounts of carbon dioxide as it grows. Combined with lead-free/nickel-free zips and 100% upcycled cotton scraps for our drawstring cords, every single piece in this set is built to last and designed to safely return to the earth at the end of its long life.
